How To Activate Dstv Decoder Anywhere In The World

Dstv is a premium TV provider from MultiChoice group of companies and have been in Africa for the past 24years. When you think of paid TV providers in Africa with affordable packages, you cannot count out MultiChoice.

Now to activate your Dstv decoder, you have to proceed from installation wizard to the scanning page. When you switch on your new Dstv decoder, the second page after language page is the satellite options, on the next page you have to choose between Quick setup/Manual setup, on the following page you need to choose your LNB type and then you go ahead to scan your Dstv decoder.

To activate Dstv, you have to install, scan and upgrade before you can go ahead to activate. Dstv deals with multiple channels and for you to comfortably enjoy your Dstv signal.

Firstly, you have to make sure that you are having a stable signal before you move ahead with the wizard installation. whenever you are using this frequency and symbol rate (12245 H 27500) make sure that you have the quality percentage above 60, in order to get all the channels working perfectly.

And with the tracking of Dstv signal to get a stable signal, you cannot use Dstv decoder to track nor check the signal strength. You need a free-to-air decoder to track and check the quality of your signal. After having a stable signal, you move on to your Dstv installation wizard.

Installation steps for the listed countries:

Satellite (IS20) and press OK to proceed.
Click on Manual setup to proceed.
Change LNB type to Universal.
Highlight the Scan option and press OK to scan.

And to the rest of Africa, it is required to use the following steps:

Satellite (E36B) and press OK to proceed.
Click on Manual setup to proceed.
Change LNB type to Universal.
Highlight the Scan option and press OK to scan.

The steps to complete your installation wizard is almost the same everywhere, is all about your country and the best satellite name to choose, that’s the only difference. If you are from Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe then you choose the satellite name (IS20) and the rest of Africa you have to select (E36B) to proceed.

After scanning your Dstv decoder, only one channel will work, that’s their Dish channel, So you need to upgrade. Dstv upgrading takes 17minutes to complete. You don’t have to off your decoder during the time of upgrade.

After upgrading, the decoder will reboot once again and after the rebooting, you have to activate the decoder to enjoy your Dstv channels. To complete with the activation, the Dstv office will request some details of your decoder, which is the serial number and IUC number. And you will find this on the Dstv decoder and the setup box. There are small white stickers at the back or on top of every decoder where you will find the serial number and the IUC number of your decoder.
